James is a dual U.S. and U.K. national admitted to practice law in Florida, Georgia, and District of Columbia, and federal district court and appellate courts throughout the country. James' practice is centered on civil rights, immigrant's rights, and intellectual property.
Before law practice, James completed a Master’s degree in Slavic Languages and Literatures and planned to become a Russian literature professor. He left academia to work in Russia in the administration of a U.S. State Department program and as a Russian interpreter and translator. He also completed the selective National Security Education Program’s Russian Overseas Flagship in Saint-Petersburg, Russia.
Prior to opening his own firm, James practiced at several boutique firms specializing in intellectual property and media law in Miami, Florida. He also co-directed a homeless legal advocacy project at Legal Services of Greater Miami and served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Chris M. McAliley of the Southern District of Florida. In addition to his civil litigation practice, James is a member of the Criminal Justice Act (CJA) panel for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Georgia.
Experience
James' practice is centered on civil rights, immigrant's rights, and intellectual property. He routinelly sue officers, local government, and the U.S. government for unlawful conduct. He also protect our clients against bad actors who attempt to use the law to stifle free speech, expression, and lawful competition.
James has expertise in the followings areas:
Immigrants' Rights - Representing noncitizens in federal courts involving unlawful detention, denial, and delay.
Intellectual Property - Representing creative ventures in IP litigation.
Speech & Public Records - Representing and defending the media, activists, and individuals in First Amendment and defamnation matters, including crminal matters involving protected speech, as well as public records/FOIA cases.
Law Enforcement Misconduct - Representing victims and their family in wrongful death, catastrophic injury, and sexual abuse cases involving Law Enforcement, prisons, and jails, as well as false arrest, malicious prosectuion, and First Amendment retaliation.
