A Trio of Visionaries
Lucy, Alex, and Rusty, three immigrants to the U.S. with a shared vision, founded aiLegal to revolutionize the legal industry. Witnessing the complexities of immigration law, they combined their diverse expertise in law, technology, and design to create an AI-powered platform. Their mission is to transform immigration law and then expand into other legal fields, bringing unprecedented speed, accuracy, and collaboration to legal professionals everywhere.
The legal industry faces significant challenges: technological disruption, rising client expectations, and internal inefficiencies. Clients demand faster, more transparent, and value-based services, while many firms struggle with outdated workflows and slow tech adoption. This leaves a vast unmet need for affordable, accessible legal help. To tackle these issues, Lucy united with Alex and Rusty, trusted collaborators for over a decade, to build aiLegal.

Lucy Lu
Founder & CEO
Legal Vision & Strategy
Lucy, a millennial born in Mainland China, was inspired by Hong Kong legal dramas to become a lawyer. She pursued her legal education at Tsinghua University and later at Illinois Tech in Chicago. Over two decades, Lucy built a successful career in intellectual property, immigration, corporate law, and litigation, ultimately establishing a thriving immigration law firm with offices in Atlanta, New York, and San Francisco.
Alex Zhang
Founder & CTO
Technology & Execution
Alex, a Tsinghua University alumnus, moved to the U.S. to earn a Master’s degree in Computer Science. With over 20 years of experience in software development, he has built scalable systems across industries—from enterprise applications to cloud-based platforms. A full-stack engineer with deep expertise in data security and large-scale processing, Alex brings the technical backbone to aiLegal, ensuring the platform is fast, reliable, and built to scale.
Rusty Chen
Founder & CDO
Brand & Experience
Rusty, born in Taiwan, earned his Master of Fine Arts from Rochester Institute of Technology. With over 15 years of experience at the intersection of design, technology, and innovation, he has led the creation of AI-powered platforms, digital services, and brand experiences for global companies and startups. A seasoned creative technologist, Rusty specializes in turning complex systems into intuitive, human-centered solutions.
